On the 1st morning we checked the
rifle at the shooting range, as we finished, we received a call that a good
Leopard track had been found.
We headed out to the area and began tracking
the cat. The track looked like it was a good Tom. After tracking the Leopard
for the whole day, by 5pm we decided to call it a day and would follow it up
again the next morning.
On the 2nd day we moved into an area
to look for a Springbuck. We spotted them a few hundred yards off, made a good
stalk and Clarke made a perfect shot - a nice male.
We then had a call from the Leopard tracker. (This
was the same cat we had followed the previous day). We headed back after a long
day of tracking in some tough conditions.
Clarke made a perfect shot on a beautiful Tom.
The rest of the safari was relaxed. We managed
to take a great looking Kudu, a Jackal that was running at full tilt and a
Steenbuck which will be mounted with the Leopard.
The Giraffe took a little longer than we anticipated,
but after 2 days of searching; we finally managed to track them down. Clarke’s
shot was perfect.
The safari was a great success and hopefully
next year we can get the Elephant - that will make it the 3rd of the
Big Five.
